FLF Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who attended our fundraiser on October 27, 2009 where former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Mark Olson spoke of the importance of financial literacy among American consumers, students from Duke Ellington School of the Arts performed a captivating poetry performance. If you would like to help with future events, please contact Deputy Director Jonas Singer at Jonas@finliteracy.org

FLF has been very busy forging new partnerships and increasing its outreach in Southeast, D.C. In the summer 2008, FLF opened an office in Covenant House, an organization focused on providing social services and housing to homeless, foster, and at-risk youth. FLF provides Financial Empowerment workshops to Covenant House students that tie into their objectives to obtain education, employment and gain self-sufficiency.
“I really like this class because I realize that it will help me manage my money and has taught me how to save. I know that if I master financial concepts I could be all set when I get to college. I know so many people who had to leave college because they had too much debt and didn’t know how to manage their money. This will not happen to me because of the skills I have learned in Financial Planning class.
