The grade level of the students depends on the school. While some school generally steer juniors and seniors to electives, others allow all their students to register for elective courses. For this reason, some Financial Management courses have all juniors and seniors, while others have a mix from freshmen to seniors. Some of our partner schools offer the course as a mandatory component and teach to a specific grade or require all students in the school to take the course. Here is a list of the schools and the general grade levels of the students in FLF courses:
The majority of schools where FLF offers its courses are in wards 7 & 8. These schools are all low-income and the students are almost 100 percent African American. The only school with a mixed student population is School Without Walls where close to 20 percent of the student population are Caucasian students, 8 percent Latino, 8 percent Asian, and nearly 65 percent African American. All other schools have populations approaching 100 percent minority – either entirely African American or African American and Latino.
All schools where FLF teaches are low to moderate tract income levels according to the FFIEC Geocoding System.
