Who teaches the Financial Management courses?
FLF hires energetic, dedicated, experienced instructors to teach its elective courses. Each teacher is responsible for two to four classes and rotates among several schools on any given day. FLF matches its teachers with the needs of the schools to maximize the efficacy of the course.
What is the role of FLF instructors within their adopted schools?
FLF instructors are expected to forge close working relationships with the administrators and other teachers, and to develop trust and respect among the students and parents. In order to achieve FLF’s goal to have its instructors become an integral part of the schools they serve, instructors are assigned to schools for multiple years. This also enables FLF instructors to become familiar with each individual school’s policies from grading to field trip procedures.
What are the responsibilities of FLF’s instructors?
FLF instructors have the same responsibilities as regular school teachers. They are accountable for tailoring lesson plans to meet the needs of their students, grading, maintaining attendance records, and attending parent-teacher conferences. FLF instructors are expected to maintain communication with parents and administrators regarding their students’ progress.
When are the Financial Management courses held?
It depends on the school. Whatever the class schedule is at any given school, the course is fit in as an elective. Some schools offer electives on a quarterly basis, with classes generally held everyday for 80 minutes; others offer electives three times a week for 60 minutes for a semester. FLF is very flexible and happy to fit in with existing schedules.
Does FLF also provide financial education services for adults?
Currently, FLF is concentrating on reaching out to D.C. students; however, FLF instructors have agreed to conduct workshops for parents at the schools where Financial Management courses are offered.
Are schools expected to pay for the Financial Literacy Program?
No. FLF provides Financial Management courses and workshops free of charge. FLF only requests that school administrators work actively with FLF to ensure that the students derive the best learning experience possible.
